A study published in British Medical Journal in 2009 concluded that UVB phototherapy administered at home is equally safe and

equally effective, both clinically and for quality of life, as UVB phototherapy administered in an outpatient setting.

Furthermore, UVB phototherapy at home resulted in a lower burden of treatment and led to greater patients¡¯ satisfaction.

A BBC report on the latest research backs UV treatment at home.

A comprehensive review of home phototherapy published in the Dermatology Online Journal in 2010 looked at 59 studies and

publications.  It concluded that home phototherapy is an effective means of treating chronic photoresponsive dermatoses, and

that home phototherapy has broadened therapeutic options, improved the quality of life for many patients, and should be

considered as a primary option for psoriasis treatment.

A review of the literature published in the International Journal of Dermatology in 2005 concluded that the evidence suggests

that UVB phototherapy remains a very safe treatment modality.
